Hello! I am so glad that you are here and I am excited for your journey.
I am Rashida Ingram, founder of Innergy Connections, a private therapy practice dedicated to providing a safe space for self discovery, interpersonal skill development, and authentic self expression. My approach enables clients to think critically and compassionately about themselves by reflecting on their life experiences to gain understanding of their current needs to restore peace so that they are able to live a vibrant and full life. The process of therapy involves, intensive inner-work, psychoeducation, introspection and accountability. Individuals and families learn to understand the creative force of their Innergy and ways to leverage it as a tool to manifest their best life instead of existing in best case circumstances.
Since 2006 I have worked for the Philadelphia Prison System as a Social Work Supervisor. My time within the prison system has afforded me the opportunity to speak out on issues related to mass incarceration of Black and Brown people, juveniles and women. Since 2013 I have served as the Social Work Supervisor at the only female prison in Philadelphia County- Riverside where I have aggressively sought to increase public awareness regarding issues of gender disparities and generational trauma. I have served as a panelist for numerous conferences where I discussed the disproportionate distribution of justice for juvenile minorities and women. I was subsequently featured in a documentary “Stolen Dreams” which captured the narratives of juvenile boys who were charged and incarcerated in adult prisons. My work with the juvenile population provided an opportunity to engage the young men in critical thinking, and to develop their ability to self examine the phenomenon of their life experience. It was behind the walls where I observed first hand the results of unresolved childhood trauma, underdeveloped parenting skills, low self-concept, and unmet needs.
As a result of the intense work with incarcerated juveniles, I was motivated to pursue a career as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated from Capella University with a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2011. Currently, I am a certified Life Coach, COO of The I AM Retreat Experience, as well as a Marriage and Family Therapy Doctoral student at Antioch University, New England. I continue to own and operate Innergy Connections Therapy, LLC.
As a Marriage & Family Therapist, I am trained in psychotherapy and family systems. My approach focuses on the individual and their role within primary relationship interactions, such as parent-child relationships, couples, co-parent partnerships, and families. I use a systems approach to assist client’s to heal issues from their past so that they can resolve interpersonal conflicts and to achieve personal growth.
